Performance workshop ACTS (Arts, Sciences, Technologies and Society) for artists, researchers and activists. A thirty-hour laboratory of five days under the theme of EUROPE’S FETISH. The participants will undergo specific physical/aesthetic training (from the performing schools of Jacques Lecoq, Jerzy Grotowski, Odin Teatret, Mary Overlay and Eric de Bont), as well as exercises and experimental practices  around action-art  in its diverse formats (visual, dramatic, literary and musical). The participants will receive specific bibliography on action-art, they will access theoretical material created for the occasion and will create individual and collective performances.

As a starting point a possible phrase of a doctoral thesis: Precariousness and cultural resilience in the neoliberal condition: to perform Europe’s fetishes, with a special focus on issues such as artistic commitment, taboo, transgression, the nature of the forbidden, borders and liminalities expressed in the arts and sciences.

Journalist, writer, performer and actress. With a degree in Journalism from the  Universidad Complutense de Madrid and a diploma of Advanced Studies in Semiotics of mass media communication with the investigation ‘The stage act as a tool of social and political dynamism’. Without high heels and pearl earrings she was head of press in the Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales (MNCN/CSIC) between 2005 and 2007. She is founder and member of the newspaper DIAGONAL, where she writes about science, gender and sexual diversity, LGTBIQ movements, and performing arts. She combines her journalism with the dissemination of the sciences, feminist activism, and the performing arts. She measures not more than a meter sixty-two but she has studied with teachers such as Jango Edwars, Eric de Bont, Esther Ferrer, Antonia Baehr, Susanne Linke, Odin Teatret and La Pocha Nostra, among others. Together with the team of Producciones Indomables she founded LA SELECTA, coffee lab of the performing arts and sciences in Buitrago del Lozoya. Between 2012 and 2016 she carried out the performance investigation of Ayer es hoy (o el día que murió la Thatcher), together with elderly women that live in the Spanish State (#Kedarte Morille, Festival de Teatro Sierra Norte).

Workshop prepared for a maximum capacity of 13 adults interested in the practice of performance. It is necessary to send an email (espai@materic.org) before the 10th September 2016 with a paragraph that describes what you understand by “performance / action-art” and a brief biography. In case of exceeding the number of participants, the criteria for selection will be done by rigorous chronological order of application.
