22 Sep performative conversations: performance, coloniality and garbage //

Exhibition of the performance documentation and conversation with the 22cubic resident artists Frank Trobok and Garbage Guerrillera and the directors of MATERIC.ORG, Marina Barsy Janer and Isil Sol Vil. In the conversation, we will delve into the processes that allow a performance artwork to emerge, grow, and be shared. Based on post-performance reflections (whether there is such a thing as a post or simply that the action is a continuum of existence itself), we will discuss the processes experienced by the artists during these months of artistic residency.

Through a constellation of questions, reflections, and experiences, we will discuss the creative process as a pluriverse where art and life merge.

Some possible reflections include:

-What does it mean to have a space to express oneself?

-Why open up and reveal oneself from a vulnerable perspective?

-What is it like to carry out a creative process in Barcelona, within the framework of performance art, coming from colonized territories?

-Party, ritual, and waste as expressive and rebellious acts.

-Performance art as a transformative act.

-Performance and how it cracks reality.

GARBAGE GUERRILLERA

I went out to look for things, I stopped at every corner. The thought was always: “What if I build a little house with the neighbor’s rubble and stop going to the DIA to buy vegetables wrapped in plastic?” There is a little market on Saturdays, healthier, but I am a salaried worker, and sometimes I can’t organize my schedule so much while I wait for them to buy my trash.

Mondays are for translating applications in Catalan, Tuesdays for sewing clothes for my friends who believe in me, Wednesdays for sending fake CVs to see if one day they hire me, Thursdays for pretending that I am not haunted by the thought: “Will I ever be an artist?”, Fridays for running away or falling into FOMO, Saturdays for regretting and Sundays for taking out all the clippings of the week and sticking them in the logbook, to remember why we are alive.

I found this little letter in the wastepaper basket. Who could it be from?
